Childbirth is an exciting time and one of the most important events in your life. You most likely are very eager for this day to come but also have some trepidation about the actual event. Let us assure you that we are here to make your delivery day as easy and successful as possible.

Childbirth typically occurs between 39 and 42 weeks of pregnancy—anytime during this period is considered normal.

During each trimester of your pregnancy, you have interacted with various health-care providers. As you progress through your final trimester, you should feel comfortable and confident with your entire medical team. You also should talk with your health-care provider about your preferences for delivery—everything from pain control to who you want in the room during delivery—and be sure to complete your birth plan.

At the Colorado Institute for Maternal and Fetal Health, you have many birthing options to meet your needs and create the delivery you desire. If you are a healthy mom with no known health risks, you will likely deliver at The Birth Center at the University of Colorado Hospital’s Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion. If you have a health risk or go into labor before week 37, you most likely will be scheduled to deliver at the Women’s Care Center, which offers obstetric care for high-risk pregnancies. The Women’s Care Center also is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

And if your baby is known to have a fetal health issue, you most likely will be scheduled to deliver at the Maternal Fetal Care Unit at The Children’s Hospital, also on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Click here for a virtual tour.

Regardless of where you deliver within the Colorado Institute for Maternal and Fetal Health, you can be assured that you will have the brightest minds and the warmest hands helping you through your big day.
